TWIDW Update: SciFi US Sched Change
(posted 18th Jun 2008, 8:04pm - TWIDW post #0706)
Breaking news for SciFi Channel US Doctor Who fans. And Charlie Jade fans. And
fans of the 1990s revival of The Outer Limits.
Effective this Friday June 20, the new SciFi Friday schedule:
Eastern Time
8PM - Doctor Who (repeat of last Friday's episode)
9PM - Doctor Who (new episode)
10PM - Stargate SG-1 repeat (Atlantis Season 5 starting July 11)
11PM - Doctor Who (new episode encore)
Midnight - Stargate SG-1 repeat (Atlantis Season 5 encore starting July 11)
Charlie Jade has been removed from Friday 8PM EDT effective immediately, which
is a shame. 2 of the 20 episodes aired.
SciFi has a long tradition of problems from Friday 8PM EDT - Sarah Jane
Adventures and Doctor Who Series 2 are rare examples in recent memory of shows
to premiere and complete a season in that timeslot without being moved. Doctor
Who Series 3 and Flash Gordon were demoted to the Friday 8PM slot in mid-run
(Doctor Who to promote Flash, Flash due to ratings). Look beyond those, and you
have shows premiere at 8PM EDT and get pulled. Repeatedly.
New day and time for Charlie Jade - Late Monday 3AM EDT starting June 23. Looks
like they will be starting with episode 3. Odds are it will be able to air the
remaining 18 episodes in that time slot.
As for the 1990s Outer Limits - the show is now off the schedule. Charlie Jade
took the only spot it had.
The Friday 8PM slot will be open for another show on Friday August 15, after the
Doctor Who season finishes August 1 and a movie marathon bumps everything on
August 8. Time to start pondering which show will get the spot next.
